Having done this workout several times, and attending the classes in NYC--there is no way this workout is easy. If you aren't feeling the burn, then your form is probably wrong. Even people who are clearly in great shape--dancers, fitness instructors, gym-junkies--are shaking at the end of the thigh intervals. I would recommend listening/watching carefully before dismissing Physique 57 as too easy!

Does High Fructose Corn Syrup Cause Weight Gain?

The latest study published by Princeton University could possibly explain why one in three Americans is obese . The study published in the journal “Pharmacology, Biochemistry and Behavior” focuses on the short and long term effect of high fructose corn syrup compared to regular sugar. According to their research, high fructose corn syrup has fostered faster weight gain on their subjects compared to those who used regular sugar. The reported increased rate of weight gain in rats is only the conclusion from short term studies. Researchers have also conducted a long term study on the subjects. For six months, two groups of rats were tested with high fructose corn syrup while the other group uses regular sugar. The sweeteners were coupled with the regular diet for rats. After six months, the weight gain of those who used high fructose corn syrup is nearly 50% more compared to the group with basic sugar sweeteners. This is a very alarming rate of weight gain as it could easily lead to health complications.

What made this study even more alarming is the concentration used on rats. Regular sugar had the standard concentration that can be easily compared to sodas. Concentration on high fructose corn syrup on the other hand, is only half of the known concentration on food. But even with the subdued concentration, weight gain is still faster.

According to the studies, the rapid increase of weight in the body because of high fructose corn syrup influences the increase of belly fats. This behavior was noted in the long term effects of high fructose sweeteners on rats. The increase in abdominal fat is actually a strong sign of obesity. This further solidifies the theory that high fructose corn syrup is one of the reasons behind the increasing obesity rate in the country. People who constantly use this type of sweetener will most likely be obese even if they are on a normal diet.

Obesity is one of the perennial health problems in the US. People who suffer from rapid weight gain also experience additional health problems and most of them are lethal. Health problem such as high blood pressure, diabetes and cancer are only some of the possible health problems that stems from obesity. Contrave Diet Pill - FDA Approved Fat Burner!

Orexigen Therapeutics has just announced that its new weight-loss drug, Contrave, has exceeded the first round of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) requirements during clinical trials as effective for weight loss.   They still are awaiting word if they will meet the FDA’s requirements for safety; however, due to its fat burner and appetite suppressant ingredients, this outlook appears promising.Another FDA approved fat loss supplement is the Alli diet pill.

Results are in from the clinical trials between people given Contrave and those who were given a placebo.  During a one year trial, those who were taking the Contrave diet pill lost an average of 8 percent of their body weight.  This equals out to about 17 pounds.   Those taking the placebo only lost an average of 1 percent of their body weight.  An excellent fat burner!

In order for a weight loss drug to be FDA approved as effective, patients taking the diet pill must lose at least 5 percent of their body weight and at least twice as many people on the drug in the clinical trial should lose 5 percent.

In two clinical trials, between 48 and 56 percent of the people taking Contrave lost more than 5 percent of their body weight.  Also, Contrave exceeded expectations in that three times more people lost 5 percent of their body weight, rather than the expected ratio.

Most diet pills work by blocking fat or starches.  Contrave works from an entirely different angle. It focuses on the neurological causes of obesity; therefore, it targets your brain to reduce your cravings and suppress appetite.

Recent studies show that this diet pill can reduce metabolic syndrome, which is a combination of risk factors that can increase the risk of obesity, which can lead to heart disease and diabetes.

The other very important aspect that makes Contrave unique is that it is actually a combination drug where it contains two key ingredients that will targets other issues, as well.  It contains buproprion (Wellbutrin), which is an anti-depressant medication, and naltrexone, which is used to treat alcohol and opiate addiction.

There is still some debate as to whether this diet pill will actually live up to the hype.  Some say that while it is better than others on the market, the clinical trials only prove that you will lose a small amount of weight by controlling cravings.  Unfortunately, people tend to overeat for other reasons than cravings.  Also, some doctors are concerned at its long term effects.

However, many agree that as long as it is proven safe, it is a better alternative to those currently on the market due to its combination ingredients that target other issues.

It appears that the partial drug bupropion has been used off lable as a weight loss drug in the past by various doctors. Still Contrave does not have the effect of Qnexa. I expect Qnexa will also make it eventually.

The Hunger Scale can help you determine if you are eating for reasons other than that you are hungry.  How can the Hunger Scale help you do this?  It will force you to determine if you are truly hungry.  By referring to the Hunger Scale, you will focus your attention to your stomach.  You can tell if your stomach is starving or if it is actually full.

If you are trying to eat food when your stomach feels just a little full or more, then there is likely some other reason why you are eating.  This is called emotional eating.  Emotional eating is when your emotions, not your hunger triggers you to eat.  Often times, when a person is eating in response to feelings rather than hunger, they will binge their food at one sitting, which can lead to overeating.

Last year my personal resolution was to get from 21% body fat to 16% body fat by August.
